London Calling: IT and Marketing Jobs for Young Professionals
London’s got the A-Z of everything a young professional could hope for: great job prospects, high salaries and endless sources of good times. The Big Smoke is younger than the UK as a whole, and not just in attitude: nearly two thirds of Londoners are aged under 44. It’s also the most ethnically diverse city in the world, so everyone can find communities to discover or feel at home in. While the cost of living is high in the city, salaries, particularly in IT development and Marketing, are much higher than the UK average.

Startup fans will be best starting their job search around East London, where Tech City UK (fondly known as the Silicon Roundabout) has grown up around Old Street. It’s the third largest startup cluster in the world after San Francisco and New York City. Central London is home to the financial institutions, and employment in the City of London grew by 23% between 2009 and 2013. This part of the London generates more than a fifth of the UK economy, roughly equivalent to that of Sweden. Retail is HUGE in London – the sector accounts for 10% of all jobs in the metropolitan area. Media and Marketing professionals are always in demand in the city, with companies across all sectors trying to get the public’s attention.
